On 27 June 2025 we took two APE50 carts to Cobham Free School's sports day and set up on the edge of the field.
It was hot, the stands filled early, and by the time the first races started there was already a queue. Sports day is a long morning for parents, and a captive, caffeine-deprived crowd is exactly the environment our units are built for.
This was the first time we ran two units side by side at a single site. It's a useful thing to prove: our carts are small enough to park on grass with no hookup, and the model scales by adding units rather than building something bigger. Two carts, two baristas each, one queue that kept moving.
We opened at 9am and served through to the end of the afternoon. Espresso, flat whites, lattes and iced coffee off our house blend, roasted in the UK, plus cold drinks for the kids. The team worked in shifts between races so nobody missed the events they'd come to watch.
School events and sports days are one of the most reliable trading environments in the country: a fixed crowd, a fixed window, and almost no competition. They're also one of the clearest demonstrations of what a Bless Start operator can actually earn in a single day. Every event like this is a live proof point for the people considering taking on a unit of their own.
